FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about moldable liners are below:
NOTE: This information is based on our experience and the information
we get from our customers. We have been fitting liners for approximately
5 years in our office using these methods, and they have worked very
well. We are not experts! If you would like expert advice,
please see a professional boot fitter. We only have experience, and
a liner-molding oven.
1.How do Moldable Liners work?
Moldable Liners work with a technologically advanced foam that softens
when you heat it. When heated properly and then cooled, the liner will
then take the shape of whatever it was cooled around. Usually this consists
of your foot and the boot you will be using the liner in.
2. I just put my foot in the liner, and
it doesn't fit. Should I send them back?
NO! Please read the information
about determining the correct size.
3. What type of boots can I use the liners
in?
Most boots that have a removable liner can use a Moldable liner (there
are a few exceptions). This includes Ski, Snowboard, AT, Tele, Snowmobile,
Dog Sled, Snowshoe, Cross Country, and many more. More

4. Do I need to take them somewhere to
mold them?
We highly recommend taking them to a professional for the molding process.
However you can do it yourself.
5. What is the density of the liners?
The Speed model is .654 inches thick and the NT model is .546 inches
thick. Both measurements were taken at the top of the back of the liner
(at the word "Deeluxe").

6.How do I know which liner model to choose?
There are a couple of factors in determining the model that is right
for your situation. Height, stiffness, and performance are all factors.

7.How do I determine size for my liners?
See the Sizing Chart for more information.
8.What is the weight of the liner?
The Speed model weighs .55lb. The NT model weighs .35lb. A standard
liner weighs approximately 1.75lb. (liners weighed were size 29. The
standard liner weighed was a M29 Raichle snowboard boot liner).
9.How do I care for the liners?
Generally we have found the liners do not hold odors as much as a standard
liner. If you must wash them, we suggest either hand washing them, or
in the machine on gentle cycle. It is better to let them air dry, but
if you are in a rush you can put them in the dryer for 5 minutes on
low or no heat. You do not want them to heat up to where they will think
they are being re-molded, or risk melting the liners.
We also suggest pulling them out of your boots at the end of the day
for drying. This will help to prevent odors as well as mold buildup.
However, we do not suggest puting them near a heat source (such as a
heater or fireplace) for drying as this could damage and/or melt the
liners (not to mention they are flammable!). If you must use a boot
dryer, make sure it is set to the lowest setting and do not leave it
on overnight (try one hour, then check the boots to determine if more
time is needed). for more specific questions, email
us.
10.Do they pack out?
The great thing about moldable liners is there is not really a "packing
out" period. When you go through the molding process, the liners
will now be "packed out" to your foot, not to some generic
shape the manufacturer has guessed at. As you wear the liners there
will be a bit more relaxing to them, but probably not something you
will even notice. For arguments sake, the liners are already "packed
out" once molded.

11.How many times can I mold them?
The manufacturer has suggested up to 6 times (heating and cooling) the
liners will still retain their shape.
12. Are they warmer than standard liners?
Definitely! These liners are molded to your foot, so there are no "dead
air" spaces for cold air to get trapped into and transfer to your
feet. This effect also holds in the warmer air, which keeps your toes
toasty.
13. Will these liners help my "odd
shaped" feet?
We have seen these liners do some amazing things for people who swear
they have alien feet. Basically the liner has a lot of volume to start
with. The heating process makes the liner very soft. When you put your
foot into the liner and then back into the boot, it will "pack
out" where your foot needs more space, and retain it's shape where
your foot is smaller. This means people with a narrower foot will be
able to use the liner to take up a bit more room in their boot, and
people with wider feet will be able to squish the liner where they need
to, to a point. However, the shell is the restriction. If there is no
liner in the shell and you need a shoehorn to get your stubs in there,
the liner is not going to help. At that point you may need to look at
a different size, or a different model of boot.
We have had many people in our office that say they have "freak
feet". Once we fit them with liners, they are bowing praises to
us. There are always exceptions to every rule, but these liners work
for about 98% of the population we have seen.
NOTE*** Length is determined by the sizing
information we give elsewhere on the site. The information above
is referring more to "width" than "length".
14. Can I use a footbed or orthodic?
We recommend using either a footbed or an orthodic, but you can use
these liners without either. Many people mold these liners without either
of these and do just fine. However, a footbed will give you extra arch
support and if you have prescription orthodics we always recommend using
them. The liners will mold fine with or without. However, please remember
the way you mold the liners is how you should wear them. If you mold
them without the footed/orthodic, you should wear them that way. Also
remember: you can remold them if you change your mind later.

15. Can I use the liners unmolded?
Theoretically you can. Your feet will not melt or explode if you do
not mold the liners, although they may feel like it. The liners were
not designed to be used unmolded. Also, if the liners fit when they
are in their unmolded state, they are probably too big and will not
fit properly once molded.
We are not sure what the manufacturer uses as a guide in the design,
but it does not truly represent a human foot. It is not designed to!
We HIGHLY recommend molding the liners before using them.
16. I wasn't sure if the liners would
fit, so I molded them and realized I have the wrong size. Can I return
them?
Unfortunately, we can't sell liners that have already been molded. Once
you use the liners (molded or unmolded), they are yours. If you have
this problem, you can always try selling them on our classified section
here.
